Extended Day Program

The Bullis Extended Day program provides students in grades 3 through 8 a safe and enjoyable learning environment where they can eat a snack, relax, play and complete homework assignments in a supervised setting after the end of the school day.

Location

Bullis Extended Day is located in The Marriott Family Library.

Hours

The Extended Day program operates Monday through Friday, from the end of the school day until 6:00 p.m.

Starting this year, Bullis Extended Day will operate on full and half-day faculty development and parent conference days.

  • Full-day Extended Day 8:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m.
  • Half-Day Extended Day 12:00 noon - 6:00 p.m.

The program does not operate on holidays, and closes early due to inclement weather when conditions merit.

Typical Schedule

In order to accommodate the needs of different age and grade levels, Extended Day students are divided into the following groups:

Lower School students, grades 3-5, participate in the following activities:

  • Snack time
  • Supervised outdoor recess (weather permitting)
  • Designated homework and reading time
  • Arts & crafts, board games, card tournaments, and other special team projects, i.e. “Me, Myself and My Good Health”

Middle School students, grades 6-8, participate in the following activities:

  • Snack time
  • Supervised study hall (located in the Marriott Family Library computer lab)
  • Arts & crafts, board games, card tournaments, and other special team projects, i.e. “Me, Myself and My Good Health”

** Fridays are known as “Fantastic Fridays,” offering movies for all students!

In order to ensure adequate supervision for all Bullis School students after regular dismissal, Lower School students not picked up by 3:50 p.m. and Middle School students not picked up by 4:00 p.m. will be brought to Extended Day by a faculty member regardless of whether they are enrolled in the program, and will charged the drop-in fee for the day. With 24-hour notice, we also welcome students who are not registered in the program at the drop-in fee for the day.

Fees

  • Registered Students: $25.00/day
  • Drop-In Students: $30.00/day
  • If your child is receiving financial aid, please contact the Extended Day Coordinator for more information about the determined rate
  • Half and full-day fees will be determined based upon our planned activities for the day

Music Students

Students who are taking music lessons may attend the Extended Day program at no charge. Parents must notify the Extended Day staff of the day and time of their student’s lesson. The students will be escorted to the Marriott Family Library after their lessons where they will be picked up and signed out by a parent.

Middle School

Athletics Students who are not picked up at the conclusion of a sports practice or game are automatically enrolled in Extended Day. They must be picked up and signed out by a parent from the Marriott Family Library.

Tutoring in the Marriott Family Library

Students who are being tutored in the Marriott Family Library after school must be picked up immediately following their tutoring session. If there is a delay, the tutor will sign the student in to Extended Day and the student will be charged the “drop-in” rate for the day. The student must be picked up and signed out by a parent.

Late Pick-Up

We request that parents notify Ms. Taylor or Ms. Booth as soon as possible if they are running late. A charge of $2.00 per minute after 6:00 p.m., as noted on the school’s clock, will be assessed. Financial aid does not apply to late charges.

Pick-Up Policy To ensure your child’s safety, and to comply with Maryland State regulations, we require that you come in to the Marriott Family Library to sign out your child. Students are not permitted to exit the library unless accompanied by an authorized adult.
