Each
year to kick off the start of School, every grade at Bullis engages in
Experiential Education. The purpose of the program is to develop class unity,
to blend new students with returning students and to emphasize
teamwork, self respect, and respect for others. Some programs are focused
around an environmental activity; others involve community service. Students
travel with teachers on 1-2 day trips, such as:
- Canoeing and ropes
course along the Potomac River
- Visit to the Chesapeake
Bay Environmental Center
- Tour of the Baltimore
Museum of Industry and Maryland Historical Society
- Community service
projects working with the elderly, maintaining natural habitats at local parks and helping to make meals for outreach agencies that serve disabled,
disadvantaged and homeless populations
- Scavenger hunt at the
National Zoo
- Tour of nearby colleges
to learn about the range of college options to consider before applying,
followed by a college application workshop
- Biking, kayaking,
canoeing and rafting
